Connecting A Network Part 3

In this subdivision chapter, we will learn type of wireless technology.  There are 5 type of wireless technology namely: Infra Red  Wireless local area networks (WLANs) , WiFi  Broadband wireless.  Bluetooth,  WiMax Infra Red Method of transferring data without the use of wires. A common example of aninfrared (Ir) device is a TV remote. However, infrared is also used with computersand devices like a cordless keyboard or mouse. The picture is an example of the Nintendo Wii remote and an example of an infrared device. Wireless local area networks (WLANs) , WiFi  A wireless LAN (or WLAN, for wireless local area network, sometimes referred to as LAWN, for local area wireless network) is one in which a mobile user can connect to a local area network (LAN) through a wireless (radio) connection. The IEEE 802.11 group of standards specify the technologies for wireless LANs. Figure 1: WLAN connection with other devices. Broadband...

What is Web Searching?

Image
In this sub chapter, we will learn : 1. Introduction of web searching 2. Web Browser  Introduction of web searching A web search engine is a software system that is designed to search for information on the World WideWeb. The search results are generally presented in a line of results often referred to as search engine results pages (SERPs). The information may be a mix of web pages, images, and other types of files. Figure 1: Web Searching Web Browser A web browser, or simply "browser," is an application used to access and view websites. Common web browsers include Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari. Figure 2: Example of Web Browers The primary function of a web browser is to render HTML, the code used to design or "mark up" webpages. Each time a browser loads a web page, it processes the HTML, which may include text, links, and references to images and other items, such as cascading ...

It acts as a central file storage location that can be accessed by multiple systems. File servers are commonly found in enterprise settings, such as company networks, but they are also used in schools, small organizations, and even home networks. Figure 1: File Server 2. Workstation A workstation is a special computer designed for technical or scientific applications. Intended primarily to be used by one person at a time, they are commonly connected to a local area network and run multi-user operating systems. Figure 2: Workstation 3.Network Interface Cards A network interface card (NIC) is a circuit board or cardthat is installed in a computer so that it can be connected to a network. A network interface card...

What is Email?

In this chapter (Email) we will learn : Advantages & Disadvantages Type of email Components in Email itself 1. Definition Email is short for 'electronic mail'. Similar to a letter, it is sent via the internet to a recipient. An email address is required to receive email, and that address is unique to the user. Some people use internet-based applications and some use programs on their computer to access and store emails. 2. Advantages & Disadvantages In a work place, communication is extremely important. Employees are now luckily able to make use of the many advantages of email.  It is very easy to communicate effectively with anybody within the office or anywhere in the world regardless of where they are situated.  Another advantage of having business email communication at work is that you can respond to clients quickly and easily. This means that you no longer need to spend hours on the phone, trying to get through and leaving messages with rece...

Email Part 2

Type of email Components in Email itself Type of email  Email Client   Email Server  Email Client An email client is a computer program used to read and send electronic messages. Figure 1: Email Client What are the useful of email client? The email client lets us read, organize and reply to messages as well as send new emails, of course. To organize email, email clients typically offer folders (each message in one folder), labels (where you can apply multiple labels to each message) or both. A search engine lets you find messages by meta-data such as sender, subject or time of receipt as well as, often, the emails' full-text content. In addition to email text, email clients also handle attachments, which lets you exchange arbitrary computer files (such as images, documents or spreadsheets) via email.  Email Server A mail server (or email server) is a computer system that sends and receives email. In many cases, web serv...

Connecting A Network Part 1

In this chapter we will learn several elements consisted in Connecting A Network which are type of cables, type of cable connector and elements in Network Hardware. A. Type of Cables: Coaxial Cable Coaxial cable is a type of copper cable specially built with a metal shield and other components engineered to block signal interference. It is primarily used by cable TV companies to connect their satellite antenna facilities to customer homes and businesses. It is also sometimes used by telephone companies to connect central offices to telephone poles near customers. Some homes and offices use coaxial cable, too, but its widespread use as an Ethernet connectivity medium in enterprises and data centers has been supplanted by the deployment of twisted pair cabling. Figure 1: Coaxial Cable Fiber Optic Cable An optical fiber cable, also known as fiber optic cable, is an assembly similar to an electrical cable but containing one or more optical fibre that are used to car...

Computer Network

Image
There are 4 important subdivision in Computer Network namely: a) The definition of Computer Network b) Type of Networks c) The Component of Network d) Network Architecture a) Definition of Computer Network  It can be defined as   is a set of computers connected together for the purpose of sharing resources. The most common resource shared today is connection to the Internet. Other shared resources can include a printer or a file server. Computers on a network are called nodes. The connection between computers can be done via cabling, most commonly the Ethernet cable, or wirelessly through radio waves. b) Type of Networks There are 5 different type of networks which are : LAN - Local Area Network. WAN - Wide Area Network. WLAN - Wireless Local Area Network. MAN - Metropolitan Area Network. SAN - Storage Area Network, System Area Network, Server Area Network, or sometimes Small Area Network. LAN connects network devices over a relatively ...
